Easy Stove-Top Macaroni & Cheese

Macaroni & Cheese

INGREDIENTS:

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 1/4 cup milk (warmed)
  • 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese (we love Tillamook)
  • 3/4 tsp One & Done

This is a super easy mac-n-cheese recipe that will surely become a favorite in your household.

DIRECTIONS:

Cook the macaroni according to the package directions.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low-medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux. It's important that you don't have too much heat and overcook the roux. If you do, start over before moving to the next step. Slowly add the warmed milk (about 115 degrees), stirring well after each pour. You can't add it too slowly.

Cook and stir until it's bubbly. Add One & Done. Stir in cheese, a small amount at a time until fully melted. Then add your drained macaroni, stir to coat, and serve.

TIPS: Season to taste with more One & Done as needed. We suggest only using freshly shredded cheese. The pre-shredded cheese in a bag may not work well because of the coating they put on the cheese. If you like it more cheesy, simply add more cheese at the end. If you prefer yours to be runnier, simply add more milk the next time.
